URBAN HIKING
-
Attikamek Trail and Whitefish Island - As one of Canada's National Historic Sites, you can expect a beautiful hike through an abundance of nature. Expect to see an assortment of wildlife, and a view of the rapids.
-
Boardwalk Waterfront - As you make your way along the beautiful St. Mary's River, be sure to ask your guide about the historical significance of this area. It's been a lifeline for the local people for thousands of years.
-
Bellevue Park and Topsoil Island
-
Fort Creek Conservation Area - This popular ecosystem is a paradise for hikers. As you walk through the trees and over the bridges, enjoy the peace and see how many creatures you can spot (bears, beavers, and birds are common, so observe and be cautious)
-
Wishart Park - An adorable park within city limits, Wishart Park is a popular spot for a casual hike and beautiful photos. Let us know if you would prefer to walk through the trees or along the river. For something extra special, book a guided hike in the fall and take in the beautiful autumn colours.
NEARBY OUTDOOR HIKING
-
Hiawatha Highlands Conservation Area - Hikers can spend a great deal of time meandering through the trails in Hiawatha. With over 20 kilometres of trails within Hiawatha, including various terrain and lookouts. Be sure to request a view of the waterfalls! Be warned, many have gotten lost here, as this area forms part of the Voyageur Trail (which is nearly 600km in length), so a guide is hugely beneficial.
-
Gros Cap Bluffs - As part of the Voyageur Trail, enjoy a hike with us and take in the view as Lake Superior flows into the St. Mary's River. Be sure to request a view of the lighthouse while you're here.
-
Ojibway Trail - Take a short drive east of the city to Garden River and take in this 2 kilometre novice trail. A fantastic educational experience (with the right guide, of course).
-
Robertson Cliffs - With some incredible lookouts, the trail systems around Robertson Cliffs are absolutely breathtaking. Join us and enjoy the out-and-back trail system, or, if you're up for it, make a day of it and continue on to King Mountain. Be warned, not everyone is cut out to tackle the "King".
-
Eagle Ridge Lookout - Take a drive north of the city to Harmony Beach. From there, Skoden Tours & Adventures will help you find your way to Eagle Ridge Lookout, offering you a view over Lake Superior.
-
Chippewa Falls - North of the city, take a hike upstream to the historical Chippewa Falls. At 25 feet high, you can be sure that this spot will provide anyone with some artistic inspiration. Be sure to ask your guide about this significance here.
-
Rock Lake - Take a ride east through the Sylvan Valley, and let us show you a truly unique site. This intermediate hike will take us to Rock Lake, nestled in a beautiful maple forest.
-
Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout - Spend a day with us and get a view of the site of resting place of the sunken Edmund Fitzgerald. Considered to be one of the top lookout hikes in the province, you don't want to miss out on this one.
-
Agawa Rock Pictographs - A short (but difficult) hike, the Agawa Rock Pictographs is a sacred site that demands respect. Take a tour with an Indigenous guide and to ensure that you get the full experience of one of the most famous pictograph sites in the country.
-
Lake Superior Coastal Trail - To give this trail the attention it deserves, we recommend allotting 5-7 days to hike along this rugged landscape. This will give you the perfect opportunity to camp along beaches under the starry skies.
-
Nokomis Trail - This round-trip trail will allow us to overlook Old Woman Bay, part of Lake Superior Provincial Park.
-
Agawa Falls and Towab Trail - One of the highest waterfalls in Lake Superior Provincial Park can only be reached on foot. Spend the day with us to take in this beauty, and be sure to plan for some swimming along the way. Just a hint, this is an all day trail!
